Questions to Ask Your Boudoir Photographer
A boudoir session is such an intimate and sensitive experience, so you want to make sure you’re choosing the right photographer for your session. Since it’s a pretty unfamiliar experience for most people, you may not know the right questions to ask, when you’re doing your research. So I’m here to help!
I think going with your gut, and a with a photographer who matches your style, is what will drive your decision making, but it’s beneficial to ask the following questions. There’s not necessarily a right or wrong answer to these questions, because each person is looking for something different, but it’s important to make sure it’s a safe and professional environment.
- How long does the session last? What’s the full length of time it will take, including hair and makeup?
This will help to know when you can take off that amount of time for work, get a babysitter, etc. - Will anyone else be present at my session?
If you’re considering a male photographer, please be sure a female is present throughout the entire time. - Is hair and makeup included? Do I get to choose what my hair and makeup will look like?
- How many outfits can I wear?
- Can I bring props?
- Where will the shoot take place?
- Are the images or products included?
Everyone’s pricing is different (may be offered a la carte or may be done in packages) so just be clear on what you’re getting for your money. - How long will it be before I can see my photos?
- What kind of editing will you do to my images? i.e. how much do you edit them?
- Do you share my images?
Privacy is important and any photographer should respect your decision about sharing your images. If they don’t align with your wants, then they’re not the photographer for you.
I hope that was helpful!
